WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR KIDS STYLE YOUR PHOTO SHOOT

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR KIDS STYLE YOUR PHOTO SHOOT

My girls styled this photograph about half an hour ago. Their room is my go-to spot for taking pictures as it was the first to be completed after we moved, that and it has good lighting with the white walls and tall windows. That being said I am constantly moving furniture around in their room so I can set up shop for a hour or so, meaning they watch my every move, and get in the shot.. a lot. You should see all the out takes due to little hands and feets.

I wanted to get a few shots in before nap time of the chair I painted yesterday, well actually the three of us took turns painting it, if you saw my Instagram stories yesterday you will know what I mean.

As soon as I carried the chair into their room they quickly followed eager to help! So I thought, why not! I explained that when I style something I do it so that someone else can picture using it in their own home, I like to create a story. I told them that I might grab a few items around the house and place it on or around the chair to make the chair pop!

With little help this is what they came up with :)

I was super impressed with their styling choices and once I put them down for a nap I started thinking. How crazy is it that I don't even realize that I am being watched at every moment. I notice that our youngest watches and copies her sister's every move, but I don't realize that they are watching me too.

Since moving last December we still haven't found a home church, we stopped going to Awana and we adapted a new routine that included full day Kindergarten.

As back to school is fast approaching it has got me thinking. I need to get my act in place, I can't take a break from the important things in life because I am out of my comfort zone. I (along with my husband) need to find the courage and commit to a church. I need to be open to meeting and joining a new church family. I need to get back into my daily devotions, get back to memorizing scripture with my kids.  I need to put God first in every aspect of my life.

God just taught be a very important lesson, all from a simple chair make over, My girls are watching me, not only when it comes to styling and photograph but in everything.

Lord, please help me to live in a way that is honourable to you. To show my kids not just with speech but with my actions what it means to love and respect others. Please help them to see the gospel lived out in our home.

Blessings,
— Aly
